Week 1 (9/9/24-15/9/24)
This was my first week in college, so I was a bit nervous
going into it. The first day wasn't much because there was a lot of
induction materials to get through, therefore not much classwork was done.
However, during the first lesson of the day (pattern cutting with Lareen) we
did start off a little bit of work. It was mainly health and safety (my first
piece of homework was assigned) and doing a stitch glossary for the machines at
school.
Tuesday wasn't much either, I had a late start due to a
presentation that I had to go to, and the rest of the morning was spent in my
stretch class where we had an introduction to stretch and what we would be
doing in it. I then had my teacher Sam for my normal fashion/ textiles lessons
where we did more induction things and got given some homework to complete some
mark makings in different materials. Last thing for the day was setting up our
accounts, making passwords and being informed of different apps and software we
would be using.
On Wednesdays, I am only in until 1:15pm and started the day
with Lareen where we went through even more induction materials and met the
second years. After that I had Sam for group & individual tutorials where
we went through the last of the induction materials, had a small tour of where
important areas of the college are (i.e. the nurse, learning services, etc) and
started thinking about our blogs.
Thursday is my "day off" from college where we are
still expected to work throughout the day. During this time, I worked on all of
my home work (Health & Safety poster, stitch glossary,
machine guide, and mark making)
Fridays are a short day for me in College as I am only in
until 12pm where I have Sam for my fashion/ textiles class where we worked on
making more marks using ink and bleach and at home I created pages on the formal elements (Line, Tone, Colour, Pattern, Texture,
Shape, Form and Space) and started a research page on Liberty London.
I also continued my home work on the weekend, but before I did anything on the weekend, I took a trip up to London to go to Liberty's itself to have a look at the store myself. This was helpful and I took quite a few pictures to include in my research. I admit that my work would have taken less time if I had better time management but that is something I am determined to work on throughout the year.
