week 25 (22/04/25) - (25/04/25)
This week back began on Tuesday thanks to the bank holiday.
On Monday, I was thinking about how I do not know when my due date for my
stretch project is, so I decided, when I had time to, to complete the task of
hot gluing all the different pieces of rubbish onto the base dress that I had
made for this project. I am satisfied with where I left off at by the end of
the night and I am happy that I will be able to complete the project on time.
This is good that I did this but I didn't have to worry as
much as I did because the due date for my stretch project is next week so I can
work on improving what I have right now and making sure it does a good job of
conveying my theme. I used this opportunity to develop the design through
adding a few more pieces to it and them spending the rest of the lesson
weathering it with some white and black acrylic paint, making it watery at some
points to make the application more effective. Overall, by the end of the
lesson I think I was able to manage to complete the design and next week I will
spend my time writing an evaluation of my process and only adding to the design
by possibly making holes in the plastic parts that I added.
During Sam's lesson, we were finally placed into groups for
our Architecture project. We used this time to figure out what we had been up
to in terms of our research and taking in information that I could improve on
for my own sketchbook. We also took that time to have a look at the work we
produced and find the building that we wanted to use to inspire our outfits for
this project. For this, we settled on the Guangzhou Opera House in the
Guangdong province of China which is an interesting design that holds a lot of
triangles, which I tried to and will focus on the most when doing experimental
drawings for this. Before I got to that point though, I completed some
experimental drawings for all my research pages in my sketchbook that I will
attach into the book with staples or thread. My aim for next Tuesday is to be
able to complete all the research and experimental drawings and if I have any
time, some experiments using textiles techniques, though I doubt I will have
time for this. I think I am at a point during this project where I am not too
far behind and I can work at a good place to stay on track while i have other
projects going on around me.
The last lesson of the day was with Charlie, and we investigated look books and the different elements that can make one effective or ineffective along with how you can carry a theme throughout the book to give the book a cohesive movement that flows well.
Wednesday was with Lareen which I decided to use as time to catch up more with my bookwork so that I can work on my final piece without having to worry too much about keeping u to date with my folder. This can alleviate some of the stress that comes with working through a project and make me a bit more at ease with where I am at. Lareen did say to go down to the drop-in support sessions so I can find a better way to divide my time between work and keep on track so I will stay after college time and go to the session at around 14:00. Other than this I think I was able to have a good time working through my book knowing I didn't have a lot of time because we all discussed out books and what we need to improve before we went off to do our own work.
Throughout Thursday, I worked on catching up with the
missing work in my book before my lesson on Friday. I did this along with
cutting all my fabric pieces ready to create my final piece on the weekend. I
feel like the amount of work I did on Thursday was not enough and I should have
done more to be able to achieve a higher level of work. This goes with my time
management plan.
Friday was the time for us as a group to come together and
discuss what to do next, and we concluded that we had enough to start to create
our mood board after I had everyone sign the written contract for this project
and photocopying a copy for everyone in the group. I believe we were able to
come to a clear consensus about the different aspects of the building that
inspired us to create a mood board that will inspire us to create intriguing
designs. I do have a few things that I need to do at home which consists of
creating drawing experiments ready for Tuesday, but I want to focus on my final
piece for Lareen because the Deadline is coming up close.
After college, I went out with my group for photography to
create the work in progress (WIP) for our fashion film. While we only spent
half an hour, I feel like we could clearly communicate our ideas for different
shots to take but I feel like we could have done a more comprehensive group of
videos to create something a bit more visually interesting so we will consider
this for the time that we use to film our final film.
I then also took a trip down to king John's castle in hook
where I tried to take some photo sculpture images, but a lot of the castle was
blocked off access so I couldn't do as good of a job as I wanted to. I still
think I got some interesting compositions.
