Week 27 (6/5/25) - (9/5/25)

Monday was a bank holiday, so I began the week in Stretch with Lizzie. This was the last lesson for this project, so I spent my time finishing off my sketchbook and then working on some stuff for my main project with Sam. This wasn't too interesting as a lesson, and I didn't get much done.

Sam's lesson after lunch was a lot more chaotic because I was trying to complete multiple different types of experiments that I could use in my final piece. One of the things I was going to try was Lino printing but I didn't manage to get to a point where I could use it as it took a long time to carve out but I will use it at home and then use the other pattern created by my teammate Charlotte to see the difference and then that will decide what colour fabric that we use for those sections.

On Wednesday, we started to work on our patterns, and I chose to spend the lesson with mini blocks so I could figure out the best way to format my design and I managed to be able to sort out some different ways to move darts which I was confused about initially.

We also had a chat as a group to discuss our designs between each other and what each of us thought we would be best at. Me and Charlotte will be working on applying the textile techniques while Harriet and Jake will work on toiling and sewing the different pieces together. We also decided to tweak the designs to allow all the designs to be more cohesive and I added a sleeve.

I created some more experiments on Thursday while also completing some bookwork to catch up a little bit. I still think I need to catch up a lot more, but I will have a little bit more time next week after I finish my patternmaking. The experiments turned out good with some issues relating to meeting the seams up properly but other than this I think they are successful and able to be effectively translated into my design if I want them to.

During Friday's lesson, I helped Harriet with her pattern for her peplum, and I also worked on getting my actual patterns started so I can pattern cut over the weekend. It wasn't difficult for me because of my previous problem solving on Wednesday but there were still some things I wandered about that I will ask next Monday.
